Default PvE (H/H) time trial contest!

So here's the idea. We all know PvE is easy 99% of areas are possible with discordway blah blah blah. But how about putting your money (or pride) where you mouth is?

Here is what I propose:

A contest. If there is enough interest (like, 10+ submissions) I'd be willing to put up a stack of Candy Corns or something as a prize. We will choose an area, mission or dungeon level of moderate to high difficulty where the goal is to either clear the area or get to the exit as fast as possible. /age + print scr, post on forums or send to whoever is moderating the contest and putting up the prize. Ideally, I'd like to see other people hosting these contests too, since I'm not rich and only have limited wealth.

Tentative rules (can be changed):

1) The level is cleared (in the case of dungeons) when you can clearly see the exit, you have nothing in aggro range, and you can clearly get to the exit without getting any aggro or dying.

2) No 600 or SF. All other builds are acceptable, including other farming builds.*

3) Absolutely NO cons. No alcohol, no candy, no essences etc. I realize it is absolutely easy to cheat this rule, but the goal is to have fun, so I hope everyone will be honorable.

4) You may not start it with a morale boost, if it all possible. If you realistically need to kill bosses to get to the contest area, that is okay.

5) You must post your entire build (including heroes). After all, the entire point (for me) is to see which builds work best based on actual game play and not just theory.

Sounds fun =)

I'm assuming this means 1 player, 7 H/H?

I'd be willing to participate, depending on the area. I cba paying too much attention for certain areas. I would assume it's you+3 heroes+4 hench.

We talking H+H or teams?

If it's teams, I propose UW.

I'd say that you have to be standing adjacent to the portal. Otherwise you're going to find yourself judging two screenshots where the one that's a second or two slower is a yard or two closer to the portal. Who won? Also, who knows what pop-ups or paths of off-screen patrols are in the way?

Might wait until SF gets nerfed just to make sure.

Since it's so easy to cheat, might as well discard this rule. At least everyone would be on an even playing field then.

Even playing field dictates letting everyone cons up to 10%.

Agreed.

Ooze pit actually isn't a bad idea. Would screen be of the chest or would all the spawns have to be killed?

Spawns killed, that's when the entire team can take reward and when you get the reward your done.

I think I'll give it a try, even that I'm quite sure I wont get the best time. Sounds fun anyway.

But I understand the no candy, no essence. But no alcohol? There are only 3 skills that give bonuses for drinking. I dont think will make a huge diffrence.

And for dungeons we get morale bost every 25 kills with delver bounty.

And question: We have a whole week to try or just a few days. Will be a time limit?

Cons would make any area too easy....and make it no challenge at all.

Bleh, ruins my whole strategy. Would take forever to clear out the spawns with the build i was planning on using .

Consets shouldn't be allowed. Personal cons on the other hand, can't really be monitored, so you might as well let people use them.

Two questions/clarifications:

*Is 1 player and 6 heroes acceptable as a H/H team or does it have to be 1 person, 3 heroes, and 4 henchies?
*Do DP removers of any kind count as cons? They should, but as people have mentioned it's basically impossible to monitor.

Glad to see so much interest!

Re: candy/alcohol/DP removers. I'd like to see these kept out too. Yes, they'd be impossible to monitor, but so are consets, and I definitely don't want to consider those. It's a slippery slope, IMO. Furthermore, not everyone has all the best candy, and so it won't be a level playing field if we allowed them.

@Marty: I don't think having 1 player/6 hero teams would be fair, since not everyone has 2 accounts.

talking hm or nm?

if you wanted to include elite areas, you'd probably need to go 2 person 6 hero (or 3 person 9 hero for deep/urgoz) since you can't get hench in half of them.

Consets etc shouldn't be too hard to monitor as long as the time taken is under 30mins.

Could always do a VQ of a notoriously difficult area or something. With /age with the big gold helmet on your screen. I guess the spawns can change slightly and there'd be different amounts of enemies per person. I'd say something like Joko's Domain because everyone complains about it (didn't see the big deal tbh), but there's Wurms there, so that'd suck.

I like the Vanq idea best - by far. running past foes in a dungeon level does not a good teambuild make. If you wanna see how well a H/H team kills, a vanq is how to do that.
and yeah we need clarification on acceptable team composition. 2human+6heros? 1human+6heros? 1human+3heros+4hench? or maybe a four-man area?

this sounds fun

Vanqing depends too much on spawns/the player's efficiency in tracking groups while vanqing. It wouldn't really work for this kind of contest.

Well, i decided i'd start this off. Only done it once so far, plan to try a few more times now that i know what i'm doing. Went fairly well up until the bosses. I wiped about 3 or 4 times before i figured out how to take them down. 17 walking into boss room. 24 with bosses dead. 26 with spawns dead. No personals of any kind were used. The morale was from the Ancient Ooze, Gloop, and the bounties.
